I know there is a little bit of a honeymoon period for a new hire but I think that coming from Anthem, it's a little bit more polished and less sh*tty culture. Ultimately, I always take every job year by year and for this job I can assume there is a 1.5 year period before layoffs happen. In any event, in the health insurance space keep your expectations low and be aware that really you just work for a manager and not the company. I really wish criticisms of Cigna or other companies can be done with the perspective of what's uniquely bad about a company rather than a bad experience at XYZ company.

Looks like I'll be staying at Anthem! Honestly folks, they all suc.
Your kidding yourself if you think normal is real at Cigna. If you are thinking your job is safe it isn't. There's no where to hide because you never know when any job will be eliminated. There are people who obtained new positions because there jobs were eliminated...guess what the department they ran too was eliminated so no where is safe..this is reality..this is the norm at this company...unless your the ceo. Good luck being safe in the new norm.
When I started my position at Cigna it was impossible to get training from my co-workers. It was like pulling teeth. Everyday I would expect my training from someone but nothing. I finally had to schedule my own training sessions with them, so that I can shadow them to learn my job and they could always cancel on me because they were all “so busy”. Needless to say it was a recipe for disaster. Horrible people! The worst!!!
When I started at Cigna, I thought it was a great company. Wonderful culture and it appeared that they were willing to do what they could (within reason) to make their employees happy. Things didn’t start to turn sour until earlier this year. They forced everyone into offices so people could quit. There will be more layoffs upcoming. I hope everyone will take heed and look elsewhere now.
Ive always thought the overall culture was good and people were generally kind and thoughtful to one another. It seems to have degraded a bit with all the layoffs in the last 15 months. Hopefully, it gets back to normal after the dust settles.
