Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

So happy I never contributed to the Dell PAC

A couple of weeks ago they sent out the email asking employees to contribute to Dell PAC to help lobby for issues that are important to Dell. How many people contributed to that only to get notified this week that they won't be working for Dell? I'm SO GLAD I didn't contribute. I didn't even think twice about it. Companies like Dell have some he-l of a nerve to even ask employees for these types of contributions when employees are completely disposable. I wonder how many people actually contributed.

Only certain Dell Team Members are eligible to join PAC and they must make monetary contributions. Federal law prohibits corporations from donating so they have to do it through their employees as a workaround to support Dell interests. There is a 5k cap per year and it is not deductible as a chatitable contribution on your taxes. Not a chance I would donate anything but just adding on context.

You sure that $1,500/$500 wasn't per year? The legal annual limit is $5,000.

But, also, no one will ever convince me to use my money to contribute to a-hole racists and homophobes, not matter what we think they'll do to help Dell.

For anyone not familiar PAC is the Political Action Committee and they have been fundraising hard lately. My request was for like 1500 a paycheck but the smallest amount was 500 a paycheck.

I couldn't imagine donating then getting laid off.

What is Dell PAC?
I don't have time to read any emails asking for money nor would I donate anything.
