Long term high performer here. I'm really worried about my future at Dell. What if they keep me here? I can't bear to think what life will be like if I'm deemed not surplus to requirements.

Being a high performer has no place in Dell. They will ride you bare back and ruin you financially by undercutting you on salary and benefits. It's a joke. Get out and go to a good company where you are valued and develop in life.
From my experience high performers have no place at Dell, they belong at better companies. Take this opportunity to update your resume and move on to a better place for your career and mental health.
We may think it is bad but the grass is not always greener. Our TTC is great. Go to a partner and let me know how you feeel. These things su-k for sure and we are just numbers but we do at least have a path. I played in the minors for years this is the majors. Take your swings and perform. Or not
High performers will find new jobs easily;). So why using this site to worry…take ownership….if you worry than go find something else.
Just like all these other people here complaining about Dell but working for Dell. You are a--holes and I hope they are fire you. We need positive people not a--holes
Assume the best, prepare for the worst. Create/fund an emergency fund. If you're not happy at Dell, start looking now. If you find something you like better, take it. Don't wait for some severance check that may or may not come. Remember Dell could completely change the severance payout for the next layoff and there will always be layoffs at Dell.
you sound like a HIGH performer
That's not a comment from a high performer, unless they are in the 5th grade.
'Boiling the frog....'
I can't bear to think what life will be like if I'm kept.
Unless your are one of the brainwashed of course why would you want to stay?
Something I have always noticed in Dell is that people are programmed into thinking it is the best place to be.Or it could be worse why leave?
It could also be better.
If you are let go take it as a new start.
Me personally I am waiting.
Why jump with nothing when you can be pushed with something.
give it another few months and either way dont panic.
Put plans in motion because Dell is not getting better and you are worth more.
No need to worry, you are part of the Dell "family" and they would never get rid of you if you work extra hard.
