Just to add this to the mix and suspected layoff they planned before this week , I’ve never got my work QA’d but in the past 2 weeks I’ve had 6 patients I worked on QA’d and my other teammates that like my supervisor got only 1. They are looking for reasons. So to be honest it might have something to do with your work , salary, length of time with company. I haven’t heard anything yet today but who knows. I scored 100’s and 90’s on my work. Good Luck to all. You will survive this…

If it's any consolation, a bunch of the managers making cuts are probably gonna get cut in September, based on previous history. Most of Optum (stated policy or not) requires managers to have at least 6 direct reports. If they drop under that, they are in danger.

Based on what I'm seeing, a lot of >grade 28 manager managers are in danger.

Thank you to the ones saying the states, don't need specifics, but it will be a eye opener if I see my state to know if I've lost some members. The last few rounds they wait a week to tell anyone & those people are told to be quite.

@wbr+1o2cpJFa If you go into the UHG Global Self Service screens, and take the "Career and Development" menu, the "My Job Profile" option will list your pay grade at the end of the third field (Profile).

Grade 29 with 15 years. And of course over 55. And this time only 2 weeks notice. What happened to the 4 weeks like earlier this year?

Starting to sound like those training sessions this week didn’t do much good. So sorry to all that have been let go today and been given nonsense excuses as to why.
We all know the real reason.

How do we know our pay grade if we haven’t been in the Optum culture that long. As an external hire last year I didn’t pay attention and now get worried.

Remember, the goal from a leadership perspective is cost reduction. If your costs at $X and you want to make them $X-10%, by eliminating roles, the higher the total compensation for the individual role, the fewer you need to cut to get to your reduction goal.

There for, better to cut a 28 with no direct reports, or a 29 manager who only manages managers and is managed by a manager manager. High cost reduction per role eliminated and minimal impact to production/institutional knowledge. Total compensation for the average onshore 25 is like $85-90k iirc, a 28 is going to be well north of $140k depending on the market, and a LOT of the 28s are in expensive markets, making the even juicer targets.

Small proviso however: Those 23 -25 production and analysis roles are MUCH easier to offshore than some of the specialized senior roles. So if you are domestic and there are global teams already doing similar work, you are probably still in danger.

North Texas: wellmed: 5 regional nurse leaders gone. 2 regional managers gone. They chose to keep the nurses that are newest to the team that do not have masters degrees. But this decision was made to “ensure patients receive quality care.” Except they don’t want to know about safety issues. This organization is ran by people with no clinical knowledge. No chance for comments or questions. Just tossed to the trash. Being a patient in this healthcare industry is frightening. Last week they announced all specialty clinics were closing the doors.

Just because people are not giving specifics does not mean it's not happening. We have lost people this morning in my department and I promise you for them this is very real and sad. Why are you reading this thread if you are not going to believe what's being written and put down people who are giving what knowledge they have and are comfortable giving.

@fjt+1o2cpJFa The last few rounds have gone through the 28s and up like a hay mower, especially if you are an individual contributor with no direct reports. From what I've seen at least part of the strategy is to automate and offload their admin workload to the 26s and 27s.

The pattern seems to be continuing.
