We all knew it was coming when we lost a contract but we didn’t think it was going to be so many individuals and so many good ones, I don’t wish lay offs on anyone but why lay off the hard workers?!? My heart goes to everyone and their families who have been effected. Stay strong and just keep quiet and don’t trust anyone

Southwest: we had three CMO‘s, which I felt was top-heavy. However, they let go the top CMO, who was the most functional, and kept the one who was the most incompetent. - does nothing. Who makes these decisions?

Employee for over 15 years. I was cut on 8/10. Along with several techies. I cannot express how relieved I feel. I actually reached out to my director a month ago and asked him to put my name on the cut list. I think, once things normalize, some of the veteran knowledge base will be brought back. Till then, go buy some beer and enjoy the chaos.

earlier this year they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take people on a trip to Florida. So many jobs lost for a trip not everyone was invited to and now to turn around and let so many people go. It’s a slap in the face to say we need to cut costs and they just wasted so many salaries. Whoever planned these trips should get the boot but they’ll probably be tasked with picking where they go next year.

New Tampa MedExpress part of Optum and UHG entire staff got the axe yesterday the clinic will close doors on 08/17/2023 and last days for employees will be 08/24/2023. This is absolutely crazy is nobody truly safe. Who is next?
Meanwhile, there are WHOLE TEAMS and so called managers in Optum that literally do absolutely NOTHING and they are still around! Some of the most incompetent people I've ever seen! No joke

What happened today seemed so random. Doesnt seem to be based on business needs but rather some AI that picked victims using an algo that maximizes cost reduction.

I was let go today from the CTP along with many more. Even some that were out on medical leave got a call that they were let go. I'm on int. Fmla and got let go

Blackout months for layoffs are November and December due to holidays. I’d expect most teams to get all their layoffs in before November.

Ophthalmology in the West got 2 appointment clerks and an LVN supervisor let go today ON TOP of 4 people resigning in the last 2 weeks.
No new bodies are filling our holes. 2 peoples last days are next week
It’s pretty unreal. Do they have bodies in place to do the work of them teams they’ve gutted or eliminated?
Even essential teams have been gutted. Managers say they had no input.
I've applied at about 50 other jobs in the last 4 months, I have the qualifications, people say that they're desperately hiring, then wtf is it so hard to get another job? I was hoping I would get the call today. I'm here to be a body, because they will drop me in a heartbeat.
Can confirm, Optum is looking at laying off 10K this year. Will have rolling layoffs till that happens. They are looking at roughly 10% reduction in work force.
I work for UHG-Optum at Home, MOC team and I got laid off today. As did 3 other people on our team. And I heard at least 4 people on the OTTH team. The guy doing our layoffs told one of my friends accidentally who also got laid off “that there was going to be more” Lay offs that is. And she goes what ? And he wouldn’t repeat himself.
