Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Thank you State Farm ….

… for teaching me about discrimination and glass ceilings. Unsuccessfully trying to post out of Injury for 2 years now has taught me what it is like when qualifications don’t matter. 3yrs TL CA experience and mistakenly went to Injury thinking it was a step up. Rejected for TL CS posting, TM says they have no feedback to provide regarding my application rejection. Looking around at who has received offers (with NO TL experience) has me rethinking how I identify.

You take a test when hired. Maximum career position determined by HR at that point. Ask for a copy of your HR file. See what happens.

Yeah some CA's lose their literal mind over what might be a reality that people get known for their work, and then CS becomes quite difficult.

While it can be very hard to get promoted out of CA roles, CS is where the bad CAs go to get fired.

Basically if you know you can do it keep applying, some people it takes like 10-15 applications to get the role, but they do, yes straight while males too...Accept the fact thats its few roles and almost every CA is applying for them, because thats the reality. Not some race conspiracy.

Isn’t there a lateral freeze? That could be why you aren’t getting an interview if you’re an Injury CS trying to post for a TL CS position.

I’d recommend getting a mentor in TL (either a CS or a TM). Find out who the hiring manager is and ask them to put in a good word for you. Also, work on your resume and make sure it’s really highlighting your TL experience.

Many of us have been through this. I’ve seen many people leave SF as a result. Those who stuck it out are glad they did. Don’t give up.

Yeah whenever i see people here complaining about lack of promotion due to race or s-x, i know right off the bat they are terrible at their job.

Best thing to do at SF is keep your mouth shut, trust not a soul, and document them exponentially by keeping your records off the computer and at your house. They use tons of information they gather about you against you. Be ahead of them every second of everyday.

Fact is, TM's like to hire their own people so they are beholden to them, and they distrust those would-be transferees as potential troublemakers.

Discrimination? All recent TL CS hire groups involve a wide range of diversity (race, orientation, etc). Not everyone who applies gets selected. Welcome to adulthood.
