Why not cram some digital neural nets into the controller ASIC to provide FW access to HW accelerated AI capability? Just because it's silly, doesn't mean we shouldn't do it. Look at HAMR and the millions of gates of crypto HW currently in the architecture of these super high tech HDDs.
