Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

WFRs coming soon in ITO - likely USA

Haha, the WFRs are right around the corner again. Did you think they had stopped? I'm having leaders ask underlings if we can move more work offshore or do without support personnel. I know it's disgusting, but I need more steak and a new yacht. I have an expensive wife. Keep working hard, before you know it I'll replace you with AI and a staff of unpaid minions. Thanks for reading, going to eat my cake now.

"If they want you to leave they will force you to work only from the office."

Constructive dismissal is generally illegal.

Make sure to keep meticulous records to prove your case to the unemployment office.

"I don’t know in the US the workforce reduction or severance pay is a max of eight weeks and that’s not mandatory by law in most states. In the UK it’s ridiculous the amount of money they get and that’s why we have a bunch of people staying on that really should’ve been gone years ago."

Sorry you couldn't find yourself a more caring government. Choose more wisely next time.

In most of the Europe it is very expensive to lay off people, especilly those with 20+ years of experience. Which is in fact ok, if someone dedicates more than half of their career to the company, they should not be able to dump them to the street or free. I am doing my job honestly and with full dedication, I will not quit myself but once DXC lays me off I will say thank them, take my 2 years of salary as a package and take any of the contract jobs i am getting offered by the headhunters on daily basis. My only fear is that DXC would go bankrupt before that. Hopefully they will cut it and sell in pieces before going bankrupt.

Yes, of course with the way margin and revenue's are shrinking, we have to reduce. It is common sense. The only reason why we have people on-shore is to build relationships and upsell. So sell more or face the music.

DXC is full of people loyal to it because they feel stuck and perhaps actually did just want to do a good job all along, but have never been allowed to. It's not easy getting a new job when you're 55+ especially when you're thinking I only need this another couple of years tops, and if made an offer I'd probably go now.

The organisation has sleepwalked into doing things the most complicated way possible. And now it wonders why it can't make any money. It spends more time and thus money on paperwork and process than actually doing. The clients are sick of it. The paperwork is out of all proportion to the tasks being done. Yes you need PM's and TA's when you're doing a big project. But when you're just updating where a log file is saved - come on! They talked the talk on streamlining, but never followed through.

DXC doesn’t have anything with artificial intelligence same as most companies don’t have anything with artificial intelligence. Most of the stuff is if this condition do this this is how programming has been since computer programs existed. Artificial intelligence means a cool thing for itself and it was really intelligent. Would it be at DXC

I feel sorry for my ex colleagues that are still at DXC. Most are just staying because their retirement is not that far off or they’re just too lazy to go look for another job.

Not sure that WFRs are performed now. This will be done by the new CEO short before Christmas.

If you think that "an architect to do a diagram" and a " project manager to oversee it all" is not required to undertake a piece of work, you belong in DXC for sure... bunch of cowboys.

Most of our support and helpdesk staff need replacing tbh. They have perpetuated pointless jobs which could have been automated years ago. If something fails, they just do what they always do to restart it, repeat..... The tech world has moved on. No intelligence added to automate and get permanent fixes, and our management has allowed it, in fact they actively block perfective development with endless paperwork, and a requirement to have an architect do a diagram and a project manager to oversee it all. The whole balance of the company is wrong.

In UK we are trying to find ways to Wfr without paying any money. Stay tuned.

Someone here already said it before so I'll repeat the words: forget about artificial intelligence, can we use some actual intelligence?
