They laid me off about a year ago after almost 25 years. TMO was such a great place to work up until the last 3 or 4 years. Getting sent away was nice. Severance. Unemployment insurance. I saved for it. I knew it would happen a couple years after the Sprint merger. Kept my overhead low. Never believed the SLT when they told me they loved me - so I wasn't emotionally hurt by being sent away. Get ready guys. Save your money. Get out of debt. Be prepared. If it happens consider it an opportunity.

I wish they would do voluntary layoffs. It also would help in case they’re trying to get rid of someone on the team who really needs the income for family kids etc. This place is he-l and the innovation is weak.

"Be a good worker" is the issue with this company. Just be a worker bee, cog in the machine, etc. What revolutionary thing have we done lately? We keep touting Uncarrier. That was 10 years ago. Sprint? Revolutionary? LOL, no.

Everyone is just expected to stay in their lane. People in Seattle have options. So, why not take a good package and land on your feet at another large company or start-up in the area?

Sorry to say, but the Kansas City folks don't have options. Where else are you going to go? Hallmark? H&R Block? Two declining companies.

Why are people here so negative? Layoffs happen. It's not personal. You weren't guaranteed work for the rest of your life when you were hired. Be a good worker, be motivated, and expand your skills; if that's not good enough at this company, it will be good enough at your next job.

I wish everyone well; if you are impacted, I apologize. I know you will land on your feet, which will be an opportunity to explore other possibilities. It will be challenging, but you have been through hard things before. Good luck. You've got this.

Yup. I was hired on at T-Mo as a remote engineer. None of the other engineers on my team possess my skillset yet there's been enough "Hey does anyone else have access to X or is it just you?" that I know I can see the light at the end of the tunnel

There are so many TMO simps that its hilarious.

Newsflash: they don’t give two sh--s about you. You’re not going to get any political points for simping for the company.

While you’re spending your time commuting to work, sitting in traffic, to go sit at a gray table all day, I’m drinking a nice co-----l on the beaches of Florida. Guess what? I’m being as productive as you are, and making more $$ than you.

Cannot wait until all these TMO/RTO simps die off.

People are STILL getting COVID at the Seattle HQ. People are always coughing and sick but stay in your face! When they had bring your kid to work day there was an OUTBREAK of Norovirus. But they want to demand RTO over WFH but won't even sanitize the buildings, fix the elevators and lighting. Not to mention how many people are still get food poisoning from Sidekicks...
Cutting people to boost these useless SLTs salary is a shame, but hey, gotta fund Seivert's little airplane hobby somehow.

They spent $175 million renovating and now less than 2 years later the effing elevators don't work. For 2 days, elevators were spotty in Building 3 (yesterday not working except for a single elevator).

With the "chat" I had w/ my manager and skip-level last week they're sending lots of people out the door and it has me nervous. I've already started looking elsewhere.

Just so you know, they're coming for WFH/Remote people FIRST and are looking for any excuse to cut folks. I was told to add any and everything to Workday and update/add another IDP yet again because the higher ups are looking and are sending their assistants and drones to look at your Workday and chat with your managers over performances (esp. for remote people) Next, the hybrid policy will be neutered to 5 days/week because they REALLY want everyone in these offices they updated the leases on right BEFORE COVID and that HQ1 they spent 175+ million "renovating". The layoffs are happening across the board in every org. Marketing (where I'm at) is notoriously stretched thin with Mike Katz doing god knows what except looking like a lost puppy at every MIX meeting. Some ICs might be cut first then all the useless Creative Directors/Managers we have will be culled next. (It's funny because in Q1 they promoted dozens of people...but we were told to keep it hush hush). We barely have the budget for all these projects but ooh boy do they pile the stuff on. At this point, I'm over it get on with the layoffs omfg!

Absolutely, I’m looking forward to it and praying the I’ll be on the damn list. At least I will get money for the toxic environment I’ve been in recently.
