Make time to job search rather than take time to job search. You are too busy not to look for another job...not the other way around. I enjoyed my job at Follett and was good at it. I stuck around for fifteen years waiting for things to get better and always breathed a sigh of relief when the reorganizations didn't directly affect me. I left in 2022 after finding a job at a university that needed my skill set (look in accounting/fiscal areas). In my first year, I made more than I made at 15 successful years at Follett, with less stress and better benefits. It was a tough transition and I grieved the future I imagined with a company that was never going to make it happen. Read that again. They are Never going to make it happen for you. Wishing you every good thing as you approach book rush...but mostly a way out!
