Back in April, they said future layoffs were dependent on the revenue of V3 Americas. I'm guess some extreme belt tightening occurring with the next month.

To all Viasat employees,

I know that many of you are wondering about the status of the ViaSat-3 Americas satellite. A press release will go out shortly describing an unexpected event that occurred during reflector deployment that may materially impact the performance of the satellite. We are working with our reflector provider to conduct a rigorous review of the development and deployment of the impacted reflector.

I understand this news is very disappointing. We’re trying to resolve the issue quickly in partnership with the reflector’s manufacturer.

We’re also working on contingency plans to minimize the financial impact to the company and to meet commitments to our customers. If necessary, some potential options include redeploying satellites from our extensive fleet to optimize global coverage and/or repurposing a future ViaSat-3 class satellite to provide additional Americas bandwidth.

This development and the resulting uncertainty is not the news we wanted to deliver, and it in no way diminishes your hard work and dedication on ViaSat-3. I am proud of the work that we’ve done and that we continue to do. But space is challenging, and we depend on the entire ecosystem including the space antennas, the spacecraft, and launch. We hope we can resolve this particular issue, but we have contingency plans in place if we need to.

We will share updates as we know more, including any necessary contingency plans. We have, in our history, had to adapt to unexpected circumstances or events. I have always been incredibly impressed and appreciative of how, each time, we have dealt with the issue and emerged stronger for it. I have confidence we can do that now, to whatever extent necessary.

Thank you for your continued commitment to Viasat.
