In my case, it is certainly not worth trying to make it to retirement here because I still have a long way to go and therefore I'm currently exploring the job market. Still I'm interested in how close to retirement would you have to be in order to consider staying here until you retire?

Nice name, @Linked TF Out. That website is a cesspool. It's job search is useful but oh my, the "feed" is a large scale circle-jerk. Absolutely ba-f inducing.
Magic number was 55 for me. I have a seasonal gig that provides a bit of income and pays the cost of participation in my favorite pastime. I'm 57 now and I visit here every so often just to see how things are going with Seagate and the industry in general. It appears that I've made a good decision. Good luck.
If you are 55 and above, stay and wait for retirement. If you are not, probably need to learn some new skills.
With 5 yrs or less to go it’s probably worth riding out the job as long as it lasts
I’m in it until social security kicks in. Question is will the job last that long 😂
