Mass Layoffs today at Waters Corp. ahead of earnings announcement in a few weeks, unsure of the total number of people impacted. CEO sent a message early this morning with a picture of him smiling ear to ear accompanying the message.

Whatever about the cronyism used by a certain manager to get tell tale employees onside,it's definitely a conflict of interest to have a supervisor and his mother teamleader working in the same area.

There is practically no financial benefit for a corporation to manufacture in Ireland anymore.no plant leader could convince any company to manufacture here against somewhere with far cheaper labour and a huge customer base on their doorstep.the line "we have a huge talent pool^is government spiel for we have nothing concrete left to offer in order to compete.
The head of Wexford is useless. The one thing the employees asked was for some transparency while this whole fiasco is going on.
And you get more information from this website than what Liam has conveyed to the staff over the last few months. He is more flaky than the sausage rolls in the canteen.
There was a lot of begrudgery when the current head of wexford was appointed.attempts to undermine him and keep him out of the loop have failed.he has done a fine job or else he wouldn't be there.
I left Waters years ago and was the best decision I've made. It was a good company to work in the past. In the last years I saw a lot of people doing nothing and being promoted, very bad management, requests from customers not being listened or taking into consideration, a lot of personal conflicts, a toxic environment...
Management lost the focus on the customer needs, and this was really bad for the company.
A lot of skilled people that worked everyday with passion and enthusiasm left the company because of this.
Years of cronyism has finally caught up with them.they have that many people doing the same job with made up titles it's like an indian reservation.too many chiefs no Indians left......
Pay peanuts and get monkeys.
You guys in ireland are really showing up the company worldwide. Beyond belief the calibre of employee over there.
This fella can't even put a coherent sentence together.
He do well to remember he is in Ireland now.
We will be letting go what we dont need.if we need you regardless if you want to go you will stay unless you leave voluntary.
Hold on a minute. So there is people who want to leave and management won't offer redundancy ?
They are going to fire people who want to be there and keep people who don't ?
I can't see how this could go wrong. You're certainly going to leave the place in a better position than you found it.
Tears of joy. I'm loving the horticulture reference my little gympie-gympie plant.
Now back to work.
No crying now when we call you in cherryblossom
You wouldn't pay the redundancy to sack me.
*your
I know management read these comments so I'm goin to say this, yous really need to improve Ur communication skills, improve Ur ability to improve employer v employee skills ie engage more, be helpful, remember the company's greatest assets are it's employees, look after Ur assets they will look after you, and right not sort out the low morale within the place it really is depressing ie start off by offering everyone 50 euro credit on loy lap

They now cry for unions.the same people would jump over a picket line if they seen the boss looking out the window.now that same boss will be the one to put you on the dole.adios moonchachas!!!!!
Layoffs happened in Dublin office also few weeks ago , lost 1 very valued and much loved colleague that I know of yet, cud be more that I don’t know of as we are remote to save on office costs
Union would be the next logical step in Wexford, it will at least ensure and force management to communicate with employees correctly, give the employees a voice which they do not currently have and ensure that there is at least a fair discussion when such layoffs are required.
For those worried about the impact it is illegal to sack someone for joining or been part of a union, and a case can be taken with WRC if you felt this was the case under the unfair Dismissals Acts 1977-2015 which covers this exact law.
Union, Union, Union. We want a union.
The thread will never end.
"A good business knows the value of employee morale and the benefits that employee welfare return to that business and to be fair, I think Waters strives for and succeeds this in most ways."
What has being going on in Waters is literally the complete opposite to that statement. What attempt will be made to improve morale ? Zero.
The below post sums up what we need to know clearly at this stage.it should conclude this thread.
I think the main problem is this. We all can understand that these layoffs are just business strategy its understandable that the global team needed to be streamlined under that strategy/forcast. A good business knows the value of employee morale and the benefits that employee welfare return to that business and to be fair, I think Waters strives for and succeeds this in most ways. We're grateful that we have jobs to live, to raise a family, to travel, whatever it is one does with ones wages. And I'm sure the company benefits from our service too. And I'm also sure that a senior representative would agree that under an ideal business model, the interaction between employer and employee is simply not just transactional. It should be a good relationship. Where we both believe in one another and are willing to go the extra mile, not for money, but because you owe the other a debt of gratitude. It is this apparent lack of gratitude from our employer in recent events and the manner in which they were handled which has, in one fell swoop, lowered morale, cast doubt into our minds and has made us all feel expendable and unvalued. I hope things get better and that the company both on a global and local level, aim to fix the damage which has been done and aim to make us part of a team once again.
More lay offs yesterday.
Many hard working dedicated employees let go after being reassured weeks ago they were safe.while the annoying mid-et brown and his team of incompetent staff still have a job. Unbelievable amount of string pulling and a-s licking going on here. Cronyism everywhere here.
I left Waters 4 years ago now and it was the best decision I ever made. Even back then the tide was turning, horrible leadership, a toxic atmosphere, most of the good people all trying to get out of the place and no effort made to try and retain staff. At the time hr made the comment that as long as their retention didn't drop below a certain level then no questions would be asked so as is the case with most companies your only a number, but the reality is you can't put a price on experience and Waters deserve to lose every experienced worker they have.
The place now has more managers than operators and most don't have a clue how to tie their shoe laces in the morning, let alone be running department's. It's jobs for the boys cultures in there as the positions certainly aren't given out based on experience or job knowledge.
Oh and fyi, if your going to let people go maybe learn to do it where you show some dignity and respect to the person instead of having the fat controller march them the whole way through the factory right past all the viewing windows of each department as if they were a criminal who had stole your lunch.
Regards
A happy ex employee
The key thing about this round of layoffs is it wasnt communicated by batra.a worrying thing about it is a project team specifically to select employees to be let go has been set up in wexford which suggests this is only the beginning. Another thing is this project layoff has already typically been leaking info.rumours were on the floor the day before announcements were made.
I was let go today. I was only in Waters for 3 months and loved it. I was given my 3 month review last week and was told I was doing great and was given another 3 month contract but today was told my services were no longer needed and I'd be give 1 week's wages as severance. A very disappointing end.
Also to the individual who did not earn their college degree to do shift work.
I and many colleagues didn't earn our Masters and or PhD's "to do shift work". I dont think that's a learning outcome of any educational course.
That being said, here I am with 7 years of third level education behind me engaging in shift work as the operations colleagues i work alongside (not in some imaginary hierarchical level above) across all shifts require and DESERVE the same level of attention, professionalism and support on evenings and nights as they get on days.
Did I educate myself purely to do shift work? NO. Do i do shift work? Yes! All because its a requirement of a career path i chose! I dont even work in Waters and the level of entitlement and hierarchy among the "professionals" i have observed in the site is something else.
God, why am I and all the skilled business support workers, Doctors and Nurses, who recognise shift work as a duty of the modern day way of working so "UNEDUCATED"
16 more people layoffs today in Wexford. Told today 1 hour before end of their working week. 16 operators between column manufacturing and MS.
Those cost saving measures of 400k for CM that were targeted were completed in one Thursday afternoon. Job well done to all involved.
It’s so nice to now face the reality of when we turn up for each day, will it be our last day. The jobs or a declining pharma company.
“wexford keyboard warriors”
A department did not like being put on blast for their inability to work. If it’s this particular department where they sit around all day in groups like they’re on a yoga retreat, then rather than come for people who are trying to keep their jobs, maybe look up the definition of the word “work” and try it out. Your degrees are not worth the piece of paper they are written on.
To the comment of “uneducated people end up on shift” you forget your salary is paid by the profits of those products being produced by throes so called uneducated people. Majority of your “degrees” are not worth the piece of paper they’re written on.
This thread is toxic for all involved, so focused on blaming certain groups, certain managers, individuals etc, that you’re missing the entire point. The market has changed and thus requires a change in how we react to that market change. Would you rather the entire company closes it doors? Grown adults behaving like children. If you are disgruntled, leave and find another job, might see people not losing jobs then.
More layoffs in wexford today and this evening
No numbers.those affected have been informed and a miserable package offered.price of a few cols...the cheap ones.
Amazing to see employees actually at each other, just the distraction and discourse management would like, blame each other on structure, roles and support when only a small few make those decisions, and in the case of the wexford "leadership" team it's a small inept group that are responsible, perhaps direct feedback to those 8 or 9
Be ready for more posts comming soon...
to the "your all sad post" - this may not be the way for change, but if it helps people who have been (and more who are about to be.....) F*cked over by a POS company then I think its fair game.
To the Process Chemist that posted on this. The post was alluding to the fact there is too many process chemists and a easy €90,000 could be saved by getting rid of two. Not that you are wanted on night shift.
Imagine having to explain this to such an educated person wow and imagine being so entitled that you are too good for nights. Tell that to everyone working shift with degrees.
Hey, America.
While you're trying to save money the esteemed leader in Wexford, Liam.H is throwing it away. All the Xmas invites last year had being printed up offsite, but all got binned.
Why you ask ? Well it turned out the invites had "The CEO of waters would like to invite" and had to be changed to "Liam Ho-e the CEO of waters". Demanded the change, if he's willing to do that, what else is he wasting money on. Causing hard working people to lose jobs.
I did not get my college degree to work evening shift.it's not my fault uneducated people end up on shift work.
