Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Change in severance

Word is that US severance is to be slashed by 50% minimum. This means increased RIFs at a reduced cost to the company. It's best to take offered packages by volunteering now instead of waiting until next year.

The longer we stay, the worse it gets. We are doing less with less.

Further cuts at NRM will almost certainly involve cutting Wafer Staff, that will certainly not help HAMR turns. A person could draw some unfortunate conclusions about the company and it’s future if that happens.

Same rumor we have heard for the last 25+ years of Seagate Layoffs. Comes up every time a RIF has been confirmed. The packages are a tool to satisfy local government concerns. Could be true this time I guess using broken clock logic. Best of luck Gaters.

There's a rumour few months back, asian RIF package gonna be reduce from the current 18 to 12 or 0.75 too. Hence more M, D and SD level taking up the volunteering in the recent 3rd of July package.
