Hey y’all, trying to hustle and want to add another job while I do this current one. The other job would be tech and has nothing to do with I am currently doing. Read the policy says I gotta ask HR. So do you guys think I am able to get that second one after asking HR or do you think I should do it in secret. Thanks!

I did this for about 5 years with no issues. Work at Oracle was so quiet that I could basically ignore the Oracle job and spend all my effort on the other one. I got to a point where the outside job paid better than the Oracle one, so I decided to leave Oracle so I could fully focus on the real job and not have to waste any time doing stupid zoom meetings and replying to emails. I was amazed at how little I could actually do at Oracle and still be a "normal" employee. I guess that is a testament to just how little is really being done at the company.
For those of you who are doing it, how does it work on your w2/w4. You have to list if you have more than one job when you are signing up for the new company on those forms ( just helped a friend fill it out so I saw it recenetly). Wouldn’t both companies then find out that way?
DEFINITELY! If you can pull it off, do it. Be smart about it and just make bank!!
yes do it for you and your family. I do it and nobody else knows about it , except my wife. What matters is how much $$$ you bring home for you and your kids . It also helps me stay current and relevant.
I have a friend who does this, only myself and his wife know. You need to go off LinkedIn completely and tell no one. If you get caught you will definitely be fired.
This feels like when cops post on Facebook where to buy weed. Obviously you shouldn’t tell HR
If HR finds out, you’ll get canned. So do it at your own risk.
Do it , but never tell anyone! Not even your best friends.
If you talk to HR they will not approve it, as it would fall under conflict of interest.
people like you will ruin WFH for others
Do it in secret as long as it doesn’t interfere with your current job and don’t post it on social media. Big mistake to list it on Linkedin as it would raise a red flag.
You can’t do one job right and you want another? Seems like a good idea to me lol.
I think there's been someone else that has done a side hustle while WFH.
I'm thinking if he is investigated then, that will be found and he will be terminated. I would not do it without discussing with HR to make sure that it is OK, It sounds suspicious. If you don't care about getting fired then, go for it.
I'm sure HR will be 100% on board with this
