Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Layoffs

It's very interesting that no one is talking about the layoffs that have been happening in the last couple of weeks considering so many people were affected. They made people start paying for their internet last year, then announced that they were sending everyone back to the office and now all the layoffs!! So sad.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what is going on. A lot of higher ups are leaving or have recently left. Big changes are coming. The big goal has been capacity planning which’s means more layoffs to come. They have been shifting work. If you’re department is busy than good for you - you are probably still somewhat valuable. Others will not be so lucky.

Still need departments listed. The department I came from(5 years) in clinical and the department I am in (3 years) another branch of clinical — are both hiring and extremely swamped.

Why does no one ever say what departments? Hil line is hiring along with some other areas.

I was informed my entire dept was being laid off. No warning. No help finding another job. I'm in the medical field. After 20+ years of service.

@Ebrx+1nuRmXs8 are you clinical? This company lacks a whole lot of honesty. There is no news about any layoffs that had happened yet so many have stated they were laid off.

Does anyone know the timeline that layoffs will start to occur that is not speculation.

I am currently a part of Medicare. We were notified that we were being laid off in July. Friday is our last day. If you've been a part of Cigna for the past four years, you had to be aware of how quietly they eliminated positions. It began in 2020. It's continued through today and will continue until they accomplish their goal — whatever that may be. When Aparna left, that was a red flag. I wonder if Cigna is going to sell off Medicare. For the ones who are left — don't wait until it comes to you or wonder if it's coming —LEAVE. They sent everyone back to the office because they wanted people to leave voluntarily. It's called attrition. We will all survive this. And when you come out on the other side, don't look back: just keep moving forward.

Our department has not been replacing people who leave or retire and we are down many. My manager has begun to act disconnected from everything and has basically put herself on “not available.” I really wish they would just let us know if it’s coming so I can get myself prepared.

I have heard about the hiring freeze as well. My guess is that the WARN act isn’t triggering as they aren’t laying off 50 employees from one site/location. Spread the 50 out over multiple locations no WARN act trigger.

Does Cigna not have to give 60 day Warn Notice of layoffs? I cannot find anything about previous recent layoffs. How do they get away with being so hush hush?

There has been toxic environment around Cigna wanting employee to leave themselves. Cigna is not being honest and been greedy with stock share , affecting lives of people.

10% to come. It will likely be towards the end of the year.

This is what Cigna considers Organic growth. Layoffs!

Cigna is likely gearing up to sell parts of the company before trying to buy a Medicare player. I think 10% across the board would be on the low end.

I have been hearing about layoffs for months, but am assuming that the "Future of Work" nonsense is their way of getting rid of talented employees instead of doing layoffs.

Do you mean 10% has already been laid off or is that to come?

My department is very slow. Caseloads have been drastically dropping. I feel like the writing is on the wall. With the President of Medicare leaving by the end of 2023 - could Cigna possibly be dropping Medicare?
