Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

It's tough out there

Finding a job so I can quit Allstate is proving to be much harder than I expected. I don't know if this is temporary but it's certainly not confidence inducing. This feels bad now that I'm employed, I can only imagine how I'd feel if I were laid off and had to go through all this while also desperate for a job.

I love all the condescending talk from non claims people about claims not returning calls. These folks are very out of touch and wouldn’t last a second in claims. Allstate claims people are HIGHLY sought after in the industry. I know because I put myself out there three years ago when I was done with Shapiro and games the company decided to play. I had multiple offers to choose from and I only wish I had made the move from Allstate sooner. I wasted a lot of good years there.

@3oda+1nqMn5hr Did something happen to you mentally? You post the same thing in every thread. I hate returning calls to people like you because you waste 20-30 minutes of my day droning on about nonsense and I have to repeat myself 10 times for you to understand anything. Then you call back the next day and do it all again. Please have your caretaker call next time.

The pizza shop near my house is hiring. They will not take incoming calls and never need to return calls. You claim folks would be a perfect fit because of your years of never returning a call. It’s not remote but you do get a 10% discount on meals. Also, I’m pretty certain that their employees whine and moan a lot - think about it, it’s right up your alley!

Other insurers know what’s happening at Allstate. I applied at Progressive and one of the interview questions was Tell Us About A Time When Your Job Had Lots of change. I noted Allstate had a lot of change. There was no surprise to my answer. They all knew why I was leaving. BTW, got the job. I handle litigation. My worst day at Progressive is better than my best day at Allstate.

What field are you in? There are good opportunities right now remotely depending on what you do.

Don’t be afraid to contact agencies. Idk if you need insurance, but if you don’t, some temp jobs could help you get new experience and maybe get hired. Just a suggestion! I’ve been looking too!

Most of the industry is aware of what is happening at Allstate, and are looking to hire Allstate employees. They understand why Allstate employees are looking. Keep your head up. If you have a financial cushion, take some time off before starting elsewhere.

It’s just a job. Most folks deep down are happy to have a job. The problem is it’s not as good at Allstate as it could be due to lack of love. It’s gonna take a lot of love to change the way things are. It always comes down to that simple truth.. Working at Allstate is what you make it for a given period of time. It’s hard sometimes at a certain age to get hired at a decent salary. I am grateful to have a job I just wish the company I work for had a good conscience but Allstate doesn’t. I am waiting for the ax to come down by lay off and in the meantime I collect my pay, work from home, help people and plot my next course by 2024. We’re half way through the year so might as well stay for now. If there are more layoffs in the Fall as rumored, it may be worth it to hang out for possible unemployment and severance. Then go back to school to get some missing skills or start your own business. Stay well take care of yourself and plan your exit. Happy 4th of July and forget about this place for awhile

I can’t disagree with you more- Allstate employees have developed great skillsets. According to multiple posts throughout this site they have declared they are bored, they only work 2-3 hours per day, they have zero respect for anyone, they make up total BS posts and they cry and whine a lot. These are traits that all employers would want in a new recruit. Good luck losers.

Most Allstate employees from the top down don't have the skillset or business acumen to be appealing to most other companies. Allstate employees think they are some kind of special talents but in the grand scheme of things they are quite lacking all around. They are a product of the subpar atmosphere and business model that they are a part of.
