Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

How many Vice Presidents we actually have?

I seen the hierarchy, its really absurd. Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, Executive Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, Senior Executive Presidents ... WTH! So many redundancies?

The positions are redundant for Seagate and relevant for home builders

We need more VP’s in Longmont..how will the real estate in Longmont survive without having too many VP’s who can buy those big mansions.

The reason for having too many meetings could be due to many presidents or high-ranking officials.

Waste a lot of time every time every days.

I am really surprised that US president has only one vice president.
How many deputy prime ministers does Canada have?
How many deputy prime ministers does UK have?

Shitgate is more complicated than US/CA/UK government combined!

It’s worse. Don’t forget a new position springing up everywhere called “chief of staff”. Yet another layer between VP and director. This company absolutely needs a take over and top clean out. My buddy at a company down the street is a Sr. Engineer and is only 2 layers from the CEO. Flat org.

Before I was RIF'd I counted 176 VPs company wide using a company wide headcount spreadsheet (available via SharePoint)

The HR General has something like 16 HR directors...wtf? That could be cut in half and I doubt anyone would notice.

We did loose a few VP types this last round at NRM but not near enough. Seagate has a long history with Laying off large groups of Individuals Contributors, then keeping the managers around for 5 to 10 years after they should have gone out with their teams. This company needs a business first group to come in and clean house. That will lead to further job losses but we are heading for bankruptcy without some major changes. The Executive Team and BOD need to be tossed out as they have all failed in spectacular fasion.
