Some people working in manufacturing have questionable work history: burger transport manager, ups driver , 7-11 cashier etc. Good lord when can we hire some capable engineers

They pay people off the street a higher wage than most of their skilled techs, they really need to treat techs better because they are not easily replaceable like everyone thinks. When a tech goes on sabbatical it’s chaos when and engineer goes on sabbatical nobody even notices they’re gone.
They hire very low quality fab techs with no real understanding of STEM. They think they can train someone for 20 an hour with little tech experience and build them up - WRONG.
IDM 2.0 will fail because they do not have the right people on the fab floor AND mid management has no clue and NO LEADERSHIP
This is actually true. Manufacturing manager hired a beer maker saying that beer making is similar to chip manufacturing. Good that he quickly learnt the process and tools and productively working in intel Ireland.
Yup, and we're not seeing layoffs either. 😘

This is bull---t, Intel checks education credentials. There is no way the people you refer to had the jobs you listed as their only prior experience and then they got hired at Intel as engineers. The only exception would be is if those were their jobs while working their way through college.
Short sighted ness now the whole monopolistic franchise is in danger.
