Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

What are your 1x1s like?

Mine go : “Hey you did a great job all month but your one obscure metric is a little high. I’m going to have a hard time recommending you for anything and wont really help you grow. I’ll bring this one metric up every following 1x1 and if you meet goals on this, I’ll find something else :) and it’ll never stop until you end up quitting:)”

1x1

Like working at a shady collection agency

Inexperienced Mgr that has nothing of value to share

You write it up and they copy and paste

Terrible experience

Oh god. My 1x1s last like two minutes. I have excellent metrics but my supervisor can barely use proper grammar so we don’t mesh. She isn’t helping me grow, not even a little, and is LOOKING FOR THINGS to nitpick. Fu-k her, imma do what I have to do til something better comes along. I never know how advanced I am until I get into a training class, where I know more than everyone but to my supervisor of the last two years, I’m just another number on her checklist. She is by far the worst FLL I’ve had at SF and it doesn’t like I’ll be getting out from under her anytime soon.

Theres no business model that supports treating your greatest assets, employees, poorly. This bean counter has turned the company into his personal animal farm, with pre-industrial revolution treatment of employees. Unionization is what broke businesses then, it may be time to unionize. Guarenteed wage raises, incomes, time off, legal assistance against rogue managers...and on and on. How about joining the teamsters? They know a thing or two about breaking managers. A nice labor strike for 3 weeks perhaps?

Why do you think they are trying to keep people?

Will be interested to see what happens at the 1 year mark of hcl. What are they going to do to to keep people sick of the BS?

Mine were exactly like this before I walked. My guy became a totally different person during 1-on-1’s. A lean six sigma black belt looking to kick my proverbial ar-e with some random low metric from 11 months prior to justify a lower yearly rating. I once got a $0.05 raise.

I’m no snowflake, but the psychological manipulation SF pulls on its “employees” (liabilities) is expert level. Makes my manic bipolar straight-banged broken-homed ex-girlfriend look like a saint.

Wow, you must be disappointed that the BOD asked MT to stay on 3 more years beyond 65. They apparently have a view different from yours.

Expanded lead against the competition, greatest net worth in history. Sounds like his pay is a bargain.

Yes. Ruling by fear and intimidation instead of positive reinforcement. It's cheaper to the organization but takes its toll. Tipstard's review should be nothing but the massive loss to the company, not an attaboy here's 25 million. He should be tarred and feathered for what he's done.
