Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

More redundancies for STST after the summer.

I posted this below on May 18th re STST layoffs after 'approx 100 jobs to go' was announced by Seagate PR department to the NI media. I was spot on with 228 applying. They knew more than 100 where going and 100 is simply a legal figure as regards NI/UK redundancy law. The bad news is that Management are 'over the moon' re the uptake and are planning a 2nd round of redundancies after the summer. Thank me later. Get those CV's polished up kids.

"116 is the 'headline' public figure. They hope that at least 116 apply for voluntary, if more than 116 apply then it will be granted so it could be well more than 116. If 116 do not apply then it becomes compulsory based on attendance and performance and time keeping etc. Plenty of us long timers will be glad to see the back of the place so they should get the 116 ok."

What does it tell people about management and work conditions in STST when they get that many people apply for voluntary redundancy. Some employees wanted to apply but were told not to by their manager, the numbers could've been higher.I feel sorry for the people who will be stuck in that prison.

Please include equipment engineering specialists this time. We've had enough of low pay, high work loads and lies.
