Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Win/win scenario

Can we get an actual technology company to make an offer to our "leadership? They would be so happy to finally lead a tech company and we could continue doing what we do best and stop trying so desperately to be something we're not. This is a win/win situation (except, maybe, for the company they'd take over, but nobody needs to know that).

"Win win to what?
Stay with copper plant to keep you working awhile Lumen slowly fades away?

I would ki-l copper asap and convert all copper techs to fiber techs.
Its happening in Washington State.
But the majority of copper techs will be bought out or laid off soon.

All copper techs are fiber techs. They were doing fiber before the contractors and prem techs were brought in as cheap labor. Damn, some of you people say mo--nic sh-t on here.

Nobody said anything about copper. SLT wishes this was a tech company and is in denial that it's a communications company (service provider, network operator, telecom, "the telephone company", it's all the same to them).

The biggest head in the hands are the SLT that is perfectly happy with half of the customers being on copper forever. Just about every copper tech you're deriding would be happy to wake up tomorrow working on a 100% fiber plant. Or at least working towards that. The SLT quits before the race even starts and wonder why they never get to the finish line.

Lumen has too much debt to be an attractive buyout target.
