Why are we doing some upskill training every Friday beginning this week? My CSL told us it’s to train us in other aspects of insurance but why do we need to learn how to do something besides what we’re already doing. Sounds kind of odd to me unless there’s some hidden agenda behind it.

It’s impending doom. There are layoffs
Planned for your area and the company is trying to give you new skills to transfer you elsewhere. Those without new skills are cut. The company is justifying the layoffs by giving you opportunity to upskill.
They did similar in ASIC last spring and summer 2022 and in the fall we were informed of ASIC disbanding and the roles being moved to vendor WNS outside of Allstate. The few who upskilled were moved to other departments of higher skill and the rest were transferred out of Allstate to WNS for their employment.
