The beginning of the end of Sears came when they decided to take their eye off the ball on the retail business thinking they were invincible. Wanted to become one stop shopping for all financial needs and created the “Sears Financial Network.” By the time of the spin offs, the retail lost valuable ground to Walmart, Target and others and it was too late to regain lost ground…We know how that ended…
Repeating failure, Tommy decided to move Allstate onto analytics, insurance plans on appliances, etc. Thinking that customers no longer cared about service and good insurance products, the sole and only focus on the insurance business was and is cutting costs…..although now…cutting costs is impossible and “good service” is no longer a safety net to lure customers to pay more…
…so now Allstate remains one of the higher priced carriers with some of the worst service and customer experience tools in the business…
Wonder how this will end???

When Lampert took over Sears it was a Commercial Real Estate play. He knew nothing about retail and cared even less. For him, he was sitting on a gold mine of ...
...Shopping Mall anchor stores.
LOL
Customers and employees are keenly aware of these facts as is the OP. This is exactly what Tommy doesn’t understand. As we spiral downward, it will be the few dedicated long term US based employees that are left that will ease the end for the customers who are still holding on to hope there will be a way out of this Sears like catastrophe. The old timers are staying for their retirement and just biding time. The younger group is actively looking for other jobs, hence one of the reasons expenses are high. If they cut a few of these ultra highly paid yes men and women, that would help. This company has so many issues. What a d-mb bu-t move to sell appliance repair insurance. That move has made Allstate look cheap and ignorant. What a way to end this company. Total idiocy !
Lather, rinse and repeat. Horse is not coming back from last place in the race.
It'll end in India.
Hence, doing the needful, and marking the task complete.
