Thread regarding Follett layoffs

So now I’m here alone..

So I had a team member nice enough to stay and help teach me, a new Campus store lead, andddddd they just cut hours… so she can’t come in at ALL next month…. I’m here solo and have ZERO clue what to do because I have close to no training and still don’t know how to do half the functions I would need for running this store.

I just kinda saw her write her resignation letter on one of our pos computers as well when when I walked upfront and I’m now dreading the fact she probably handing it to me at closing.

I regret being here and finding this page so late because if I read all of this before I would not of taken this position.

Run, run as fast as you can. All the new hires have no clue to how brutal Fall Rush can be.

I’m in the same position. I was hired under the pretense that I would be a store lead only to find out on my first day I’m actually acting manager. Granted it’s “slow season” atm but the only person that was training me (another store lead) had her hours cut to nothing. She’s worked with the company for 5 years. I’m adapting and learning fast but from everything I see fall rush is going to be trash. Almost as trash as the zero training from a coach/RM who flat out asked me if I have dyslexia.

Leave as soon as possible. Working for Follett is no longer a career. It will go nowhere. "If" the company is not run into the ground, you will be trampled trying to keep it a float. You are expendable. And "if" you survive, they will toss you aside rather than pay a decent wage. They do not value your experience, they only value the dollar. There are SO many companies out there that will value and reward your hard work. Do not invest (waste) your time with Follett.

Just quit. There's no point being there. You're better off unemployed or working at any other retail joint in the universe. Follett is a sh-t-show and a lost cause. Anyone working there unironically is either scamming them or a mo--n being scammed.

I saw a Market Lead take over 3 stores, lose 1 contract, half both campus leads quit and then both former ASM's who had been demoted to TL quit and now they're alone in the store. Their RM also laid off, so they're totally alone. I feel bad for them. I am just su-king up the free money — show up, do no work, and go home. Phones forward to voicemail. Only answer emergency emails, and refund literally anyone that asks. Damaging out and Expiring out tons of merchandise that isn't selling. I laugh all day long.

If you stick around waiting to be terminated, 1) you couldn't collect unemployment insurance if you are terminated for cause (you failed not JRC didn't give you proper training - that will be JRC's position) and 2) you will have that on your resume - terminated for cause.
They have set you up for failure - leave on your own terms - quickly.
Whoever recruited you lied to you.
JRC looking to cash in quick.

Sorry, knew that would happen so best to find you something else and give notice. Don't expect you to have many hours for rush and that is 100 times worse than orientations.

I am honestly very sorry for you. I wish I could say hang in there...it will get better but it will not. The best you can hope for is to survive

Unemployment compensation programs vary from state to state but generally an employee must have worked for 12 months before they are eligible to claim benefits.
So waiting to get terminated is NOT a great plan.

Stay long enough to get fired and collect unemployment. Forward all the emails to your market leader or RM

It's breathtaking that JRC is actually doing this.
I'm gobsmacked!
JRC -total failures! Wait until the investors with the James family figure this out.

Your a-s is grass and the ivory tower is the lawnmower! Give two week notice, do what you can asking other managers in your region, and then leave on good terms.

I'd leave now, you don't want to be fed to the wolves at Rush. Fall Rush is brutal and that's even for the most experienced employee.

Agreed. This company has gone down the cr-pper. You won't get any training. You will be there alone. Start looking elsewhere.
