Party Planning Committee

Can someone tell the party planning committee that it is nice for the company to try and have a fun event, but don't do it in June when it is (literally) 100 degrees outside. I wanted to sit out there and enjoy some mingling and live music, but I instantly was soaked in sweat. It was all I could do to just make it through the food line before I looked embarrassingly sweaty. If the company is to spend that sort of money for tents, a band, and the like, do it at a time of year when we can actually enjoy it.

Why are we wasting money on company fun social events. I thought Covid cured us of that waste. Take that money and give it to the employees. That’s what we really want.

We are close to the end of Q2. The “feel good” event was a goal for HR and Management. Just like those friendly manger lunches. Woo hoo. Gotta get it done. Check the box.

Last poster. . . .look I get what you are saying. But your logic is like when I tell my kids to eat dinner because there are 'starving in Africa'. The fact is that there are kids starving in many places, and by not eating your food has no bearing on what is happening in hunger in other places around the world. The fact that I am an office worker in Houston and there are operations people working in Permian in the field doesn't make me a si--y.

The original premise stands regardless of what others in other places around the world are doing. . . . don't have outdoor events in Houston for office workers during the hottest week to date of the year. Use some discretion and save events for that when it is at least tolerable to sit outside and mingle with colleagues.

Interesting on the FRCs rqmts in areas that aren't truly in danger.

The people who actually make money for the company work out in the elements 24/7. And to satisfy our superiority, we impose ridiculous requirements like wearing FRC in locations with no potential for flash fires making the heat even more intolerable . Sorry you broke a sweat cupcake.

And have us waste time outside when we could be in meetings about meetings? Don’t be ridiculous!
Now get back to planning the pre-meetting meeting to plan the post-meeting wrap up ahead of the big meeting.
