Don't apply for internal jobs. You cannot get a raise when moving internally. What a joke.

Oracle has over 140k total employees comprising of many different business units and many different projects within those business units.

There will always be layoffs somewhere when you take those things in to account.

The important things to ask yourself is 'Does the product or project you are working on make money?' and 'Are the customers who use my product growing?'. If you can answer yes to those you shouldn't worry about layoffs at all.

If the answer is no the writing is on the wall. It may not be this year but Oracle doesn't run a charity to employ people to work on stuff that continually loses money. You shouldn't be surprised when it eventually happens. My advice is to apply for internal jobs to teams working on profitable projects instead.

Sit as long as you can, but sometimes you have to stand for something!
