Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Can someone explain where the hope should come from?

  1. What is intel going to do…..just to keep Ohio and Germany warm…..they are going to dilute the revenue per employee.
  1. intel doesn’t even make their own graphics chips…. TSMC makes all of the chiplets.
  1. it is clear that Nvidia is 1….but AMD is a clear 2 on AI bump. I suspect the stock prices will build this in after earnings.

Yes absolutely! China will never attack Taiwan for sure !! All jokes aside, if China attacks Taiwan, AMD will cease to exist. Let's find out.

@cyx+1nagY7o8 because syncopants know you have to shake it and work it if you don’t have any real physical assets. All these dimwits perpetually on the make papered over by the welfare state are perfect disposable tools for the cavier classes

Good global issues and taiwanese security don’t really depend on the righteous forward looking of Gods holy light within Intel ‘leadership’

Your No. 1 is subjective, No. 2 is wrong, and for No.3, currently it is correct but that does not mean you won’t work for it.
If you are behind do you want to be behind forever like AMD used to be in CPU?

Hope?

Since the entire farm was bet on IFS, you either have to believe it will work or it won't.

I have been around semiconductors since 1980 and I know INTC & TSMC very well. TSMC have decades lead, huge ecosystem and a culture and process that can deal with high product mix, low volume. Intel has none of these skills and the culture is 180 degrees different from what you need to be a contract manufacturer in silicon. This is even before talking about cost structure. Intel is bloated and tax breaks can't close the gap.

Sorry to paint such a dour picture. Just have to tell it like it is.

What did I get wrong?

Germany still chose Intel, no word on TSMC fab yet, and gave them subsidies like every country does with fabs. What's wrong with that?

looking at the photo of a bunch of so called leaders doing a thumbs up outside of a poland plant that might break ground soon, on the back of a begging bowl of 10bn euros in subsidies from a desperate German government is absolutely sickening…… i know very well unfortunately work with 4 of them …. a bigger bunch of egos and sycophants you will never meet ….. all just a photo opp : nothing more than that . I cannot wait to leave this company , a complete shadow
of itself in every way ….

The best they can do to lower the operating cost is to build in poor European countries. America is too expensive. Germany is being made poor by nordstream sabotage. They will never dare build it in Ukraine since Russia will seize it. Italy will be the next location.

Even bigger concern is why build fab in Poland which is closer to russia.
