It had nothing to do with age or "on target earnings". A few months ago the teams were asked which partners were active in the account. Armed with this data they went back and looked at which accounts had extremely strong partners bringing in business and then they targeted those teams. Account teams spend a ton of time sorting out post sales problems and often have to fight the bureaucracy for every inch of ground. Partners will get fed up with it very quickly once they're stuck in the middle and the only recourse is submitting a trouble ticket and then waiting for someone faceless person halfway around the world to respond.

You’re in sales. Either bring in the revenue or you get cut. Name of the game. The numbers show, those let go were not performing. Got a nice severance package to go try somewhere else. Sellers sell. I’m ok with it.

Fact! Over 50, female in pre-sales. They kept saying, "you are safe" then video phone call saying see ya.

'so my partner rep just told me he is worried as they are doing layoffs. He was told last week to expect them. the odd part is if they say they are doing layoffs and it is to push more partner sales of storage, why would they lay of partner reps.
that doesn't make sense.

Its hard to know if it's salary. I know someone at the company over 20+years with the same grade as me and they made 30k less a year than I did being at the company 3 years. If you are older and get let go after 20+ years be glad you did get let go and didn't retire - you don't get anything when you retire.. getting let go you get a decent separation package. Take that money and go get another job.. roll your tanking 401 into that , you lost nothing. All the best.

I’m one of the 55+ that also got the boot today so there could be some truth to this. Top performer, landed two huge accounts, responsible for over $60 million.

Okay Boomer

If you think they are targeting 55+ then you're an id--t. But you probably believe you'll land your next job with a firm handshake and "bootstrap" mindset.

It’s salary, not age. Age does correlate well.

I was let go even though I hit my numbers and was the only security cleared person on the team, yes over the magic age, a bit like Michael. However I have found happiness in another company. I enjoyed my time at Dell when it was Dell. There is a world out there.

Seems legit. Two of my teammates were laid off today. Top performers, both over 50.
