My Windstream landline charge just went up $29. OMG - Are you kidding? It appears they are trying to 'force' the people still on landlines to give them up. I tried to call and speak to a real person, but could not. Called last month when I saw the notice, and the girl told me it would go up $9. I can live with $9 - but not $29. Looks like they're gonna get their wish! I am pretty sure the disconnects are through the roof right now!

Called today to complain about residential line increase. I got India. Why am I not surprised?

They used to give away the farm to keep landline customers. Now they just raise prices and fire people. I'm sure like others said it's just a way to get people off their land lines without costing them anything.
Windstream is not the only company doing this. Pretty much every company wants to stop maintaining old copper.
when I worked there, that is how they got folks to move off older services
