Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

When it happens, and it will

Review your payroll withholding. When you get your lump sum it will be taxed at that rate.

Any ESP stock that haven’t vested, they will refund you that money.

They will pay out any unused PTO, but be sure to check and know how much time is due to you.

The outplacement company they will make you aware of is cr-p. Mostly useless.
But do sign up as TMO is paying them.

If you are remote, they will hold the severance check until they get back all equipment, company ID/swipe card and P Card if you have one.

After your last day, your next phone bill will reflect consumer pricing for what you have now.
Research and make changes if needed.

“Been there done that” — no you will not lose money if you start before 2 months pay ends. Basically you say nothing to Tmo, start your new job (say nothing to the new job) and generally keep your mouth shut and it’ll be fine. Layoffs can be a blessing !!! Also it isn’t bot illegal to double dip or work 2 full time jobs. Just make sure you don’t put more than the yearly max of 401k if you combine both jobs then you’ll have a tax issue. Otherwise , enjoy the layoff, free money and new job !!!!

One thing about the 2 months pay - if you start a new job during those 2 months you will lose the remaining money of the 2 months. In my case we would've also lost the layoff money if started a new job prior to the official separation date. Don't start any new job until the day after the official separation date

Don’t forget to port out all your lines to VZ or AT&T, why do you want to give them money at a consumer rate?

Save anything you need.
Document any 3rd party trainings you took to add to resume.
Set up an EBay account to sell all your gear. People will buy it.

Once let go, your boss will ignore you as they will be told to do from their boss.

Remember if it is a large enough layoff you will have an additional 2 months due to WARN act...so you won't get that lump sum until that time.. thus make sure you don't delay and wait 2 months to return your gear...lol

Sounds perfect. Do I leave everything at the front door or just leave it at my desk.
