Wrong positions eliminated

I am horrified whenever someone says that positions that the company eliminated were not needed. I do not agree in the least and in fact it is difficult to tell which were needed more. What are your thoughts on this?

audit was an important part of club operations. a good audit team kept on hands right, found shrink problems, & helped control them.
clubs didn't have nearly the shrink as they do now.
the last year our club had an audit team, our dollar difference at after inventory was a mere $12,000. The year after audit was eliminated, it ballooned to about $61k and has increased every year since.
Why was audit eliminated? So corporate could decrease your Sam's share. Shrink figures in to your share. One way audit helped control shrink is by finding where you may have been billed for items you didn't receive.
Without audit, how easy is it for corporate to put a high dollar item like generators in your inventory yet never have it in the club? What about taking a bottle of li---r out for everyone that you sell?
How quickly do those add up.... quicker than you can catch it because you don't have a team monitoring it. Audit could research those things & find out what happened. Now, who is going to research it & get it fixed? Who has time?
Eliminating audit was just another way corporate could dictate bonus payout while still making money.

I can understand the audit department. T/L's are to conduct their own areas. I am a merch and I do assist is this area. PTC Is a very viable department. This should not have been eliminated. We still need assistance to personal questions like PTO's, insurance, etc. With leads including MSL's handling personal data including orientations and terminations, this is too-many-hands-in-the-cookie-jar scenario and a potential identity theft issue. Cash office is a viable department. Money losses, CFT confusion, cash recycler mis-haps, anything involving economics/accounting. There is no security with these departments. The doors are always open with anybody walking in to high-end merchandise and information.
