Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Agent Purge

Company Insiders are stating numbers show record number of agencies are leaving since Jan 1.

Policy cancellations, claim dissatisfaction, support. What seems to be the cause?

Curious on how they would eliminate agents so quickly (end of 2025)? That seems unlikely although I can see them continuing pressuring them out to keep cost down. Agents really don’t like the lack of stability is the reason they are leaving. Program changes, loss of competitive advantages in most markets, delay of products/withholding of products, and lack of clarity for long term vision are all contributing to agent loss and it will continue. Big news coming on Aug 9th.

Corporate sees exclusive agents as an expense. Whether a good move or not they are on the chopping block due to the narrow vision of corporate. If it is an expense it is gone regardless. Corporate is so out of touch that they can't get out of their own way.

Eliminating agents will be as successful as the esurance debacle.

Is the goal truly agent elimination by 2025? Or is this just a best guess based on the current activities?

Don’t trust allstate. They tell you cutting back on advertising expense and then all the ads they do run are 800 and buy online for less.

Unions aren't going to happen here. Employees are already too fearful and beaten down. Most of those still here are just waiting it out one way or the other. The threats against employees for unionizing over the last several years makes the potential for unionizing not an option. The few that may try will be erased pretty quickly. I'm not willing to have a termination for cause on my record for future jobs, which I know I will have to apply for soon once our onshore roles are eliminated. Plus many don't trust unions enough to risk their jobs over.

Agents can’t really unionize as they aren’t employees. Employees have one option to voice their disdain and that is to make a national attempt to unionize. Even if it fails, to expose these corporate crooks would be worth it through the publicity this sh-t show would finally get. It’s all going to end anyway so why not attempt a Union. Jobs are plentiful so there’s no real risk of not getting another job if they replace you will trying to organize but wait, you’re looking forward to the next psychological fitness puzzle test and can’t bear to hurt your captor? Allstate has beaten you down properly alright. Stand up for yourself and the agent community before it’s too late. Be heard. Unionize.

Allstate is going direct. Changes in sales requirements and changes in commission forcing agents out. Goal is exclusive agent elimination by end of 2025.

By design (not just Allstate btw). Bleed out the smaller agencies first so the larger producers keep the pipelines full until their eventual AI takeover can fully eliminate those pesky "human" expenses. Of course it's not just agents that should see the writing on the wall...actuaries, underwriting, claims...YOU.

Quite obvious - commission cuts for new and renewal policies, quotas for new business auto production, minimal to no marketing support, introduction of on-line new auto ins products that have no agency involvement at all, statements by TW about introducing HO insurance products on-line with no agent involvement, drastic reductions in agency support personnel to be replaced by on-line canned answers, etc, etc. I'm sure many more examples will be offered.
