Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Maybe they should have offered voluntary layoffs first

I need my job and I plan on staying (unless I'm affected) but I know of several people who have been unhappy for a while and who would not hesitate to accept a buyout if offered. It would be bad for everybody if they are among the ones who are not impacted by layoffs and people like me are. Why can't they offer buyouts first to avoid this?

Consultants, contractors, and vendors don't get severance. It's them first. Much cheaper for the company.

They did to the VPs that left the company and that retired.

The problem (from their perspective) is that the ones who will take a voluntary layoff are the ones they can’t afford to give up once the additional work needs to be picked up.

Their competitor Humana did offer voluntary buy-out or early retirement.. maybe they should take note for a company that actually has a 4 star rating.

Agreed!!!! I know many who would take an early buyout. BUT that means they might do a deal on benefits which they probably don't want to do.
