The real question is, how many of the 300,000 employees are non customer facing? If we take the actual amount of those employees with 5000 of them being laid off we have a much higher percentage we are looking at. (300,000 minus most of retail, inbound queue folks, what are the numbers?)

Does anyone know if Executive Assistants are affected? A couple of colleagues I work with are EA's and they too are curious. It would be nice to know who is affected and how they are going to be notified.

A large chunk of the 5000 will be the employees of the 3 Simpledose locations and our call center employess...I believe in total we were about 1500-1700 employees

my thought is CVSHEALTH employees ban together for the “the great american walk out”. every single employee “strike “ , all of us. they can’t fire 1, they’d have to fire everyone. karen will see the impact of losing employees!!’
can 300k employees walk out for a week or until karen retracts her message?????

I work for omnicare and have thought for months they might just shut it down since they clearly can’t sell it. They can’t keep taking omnicare losses and we know they need to sell by sept or they lose tax deductions they took last year.

This waiting is atrocious. They obviously knew exactly which positions they were going to cut in order to come up with the 5000 number. Tell us already!

They want to send a follow up email today regarding Karen's email and then right after say he come join our meeting tomorrow to find out how much the company has made this qt! BS they should just let the ones know instead of waiting weeks makes me not want to work anymore until we know! Anyone else in the MAC dept?? I feel our jobs will be the ones gone since it makes no sense to call mms who don't answer or most of the time don't want to talk to us

Severance is determined by length of service + job grade (at least according to the internal policy they have posted). The way this has been handled is atrocious and I know of no one below the VP level that has been told if their area is safe or not.

So now everyone is anxiously sitting around the next few weeks to see if they get canned. Absolute masterclass in how not to communicate with your company

5K is a lot of folks who help make this business run both customer facing and back end work! I am in the back end of things. We need more information from that email..like what areas, depts etc. if they are doing massive layoffs and this is just the start then why are they still hiring? To do all this months before AEP starts which is our busiest time. Why do we have to wait weeks to know!? Just tell us now!! Our dept mgr thinks we are safe, but lay offs this big makes me believe no one is safe.

The management knows, your boss knows. They not saying anything yet. Some teams were told they are safe. why Not tell us first if we are getting laid off, then send that email saying we sadly had to lay off 5,000. Stupid

Let's just replace EVPs and above with AI, it will make better decisions than what CVS has now. I mean if the board was smart it would be best decision for the company.

The amount of money saved would be more than letting go of 5000 people who actually work.

I am sure an AI program would know forcing back to office and maintaining those leases would be incorrect.

In what realm of rational , decent human thinking do you go about sending that layoff email ,then expect people to wait ? Productivity as CVS is going to drop.People don't work as efficient when stressed about losing their job.

Also closing on two large purchases totaling almost $19 billion would not be best for the company in one year. How could Shawn Guertin as CFO know that was financially sound , he can't he is a failure of a human being.

AI would not approve of paying individuals like Prem to just fly around the country on his salary just to take pictures with people at the stores. He is the multi' million dollar salary store greeter.

I wish the board would override Karen on these layoffs, remove her and all EVPs and above. We all could then give the board our Heart At Work kudos

Best of luck to all employees accept to soulless Karen and her minion "leadership" group.

Regarding the severance pay… I was thinking it would be 1week per year… but it may be two weeks pay for every year. Hope at least CVS is generous with that. It’s nerve racking on the Aetna side. If anyone else knows more details on the severance please tell us! Ty!

I was denied a raise this year because I "just don't seem to care" while the people who benefit from my labor get millions in bogus bonuses then turn around and lay off good people to cover up their total mismanagement from top to bottom.
You're darn right I just don't care, NOBODY DOES! Why should I put in any extra effort when I can't expect the people in charge to do the same? Looking forward to my severance check, I can go make more money giving people their receipts down at chick-fil-a.

The winning comment - send Karen a heart at work recognition. Love it!
All this helping with heart bullsh-t and this email comes out with no forewarning? Another great day at CVS.

Does the 5K include contractors or is it all full time employees? One of the comments here said “minimize consultants and vendors”.

This plan has been in development for months and lists were finalized in June. Sympathies to everyone who is going to be impacted. The communication has been horrible and the next two weeks will be a real mess for everyone while we await the actual notifications. It’s been intended to be discussed on the earnings call Wednesday, hence todays internal announcement to get ahead of that. Karen is a pathetic liar and she has to do something to save her own rear end.

Yet CVS hires people that send emails about " Today is national chicken wing day" but lays off pharmacists and technicians. Shows that CVS is a frontrunner in that damn ESG agenda

Appears like the new workforce will be aligned and in effect for 9/5 (3 days a week in office) based on some silly social media guidelines they sent out for leaders.

So if you’re out, you’ll be out soon.

I’m in Omnicare Corporate Finance, we all received our emails this afternoon. I can see how they lost money on Omnicare… Their billing su-ked before they were bought by CVS and it’s never improved and they’ve been continuously losing clients left and right because of that. So nothing changed or improved. Our management this afternoon said they had heard nothing prior to this nor do they know where cuts have been made or will be.. sounds like cuts are all over the CVS org umbrella. I agree with another poster that their latest acquisition happened faster than their anticipated cash flow so they had to make cuts to their own existing employees to help make bank. If that’s really the case and their financial saving grace, then that’s pretty screwed up. Sadly that’s business. Sure made for a depressing day… I LOVED The “Sending Karen A Heart A Work ‘Ata Girl’ for making our day fantastic comment… Cracked me up! Needed the laugh! I always knew we were all screwed when Ol’ Larry Merlo was publicly shaking hands and endorsing the x prez and being part of some “Special Super PAC”.. enough to have made a darling “Deal with the Devil” himself (Pharmaceutically and politically speaking) during the early days of the vaccines et al. Enuf of a deal to be able to quickly jump ship and bail on his whole organization. Speaks volumes of the dudes integrity then, and the ship continues to throw the unnecessary ones overboard in order to remain afloat… Time will soon tell who received the latest “Bon Voyages” mentioned today or in the future. God Bless Us Everyone…

None of workers who will be laid off will be the offshore reps. They work in Manila they are laying the US reps off to keep them. They want the Manila reps to take 80 percent of CVS calls by next year.
