Management

2 year associate with hard work ethic, good teamwork and driven. I recently had an interview for team lead and my gut tells me something was way wrong about the whole interview. It had gotten pushed back a month. No guideline was used & at one point I was basically talked down to about my communication skills by an outside dept manager. Is this a managers way of saying we already have someone else selected?

Yes, when I made team lead, I was told in advance that I had the job no matter who else put in for it. By the way, worst decision I ever made. Lousy days off, an impossible workload and the great manager was replaced by a rotten-to-the-core, unethical woman. I stepped down in less than a year. I still work there, but never again would I ever consider moving up in this corporation.

If your IQ is above 70, you can't be a Manager in this company. It has to be below 70 to succeed.

Trust me, taking on leadership at all in this screwed up company is not worth it. I know some of you may need the money, I get it, but it's not worth it. Work on obtaining certifications and professional education and pivot out of retail into something better.

Source: Former manager. Did 5 years and was elated the day I was restructured out of the company.

If they give you any criticism, just make sure its constructive I.e. if you have communication issues, ask them specific and their suggestion on improvement and put their suggestion to practice, and follow up with them. Just because you didn’t get the position this time, there will be more opportunities

They already have someone in mind. They push it back because they’re waiting for the other person to be in their position for six months so they can get the other job. It’s all favoritism, and it will never change because nobody hold them accountable.

not only do they know who is going to get the job but usually the person getting the job already knows. The person getting the job will deny it up till the last second. I have known the getter of the job to deny it days after everyone knows. Management tells them in advance so they dont have to worry through the process. Also telling them in advance makes them believe they are in tight with management.

They know who they’re going to pick before they even start the interview process. The interview process is just going through the motions and creating the illusion that they are doing the right thing.

Yes it is! They already know who they are putting in that position before they post it. It must be all the same in all clubs
