Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Warn act

Does anyone know if those laid off will receive 2 months pay per the WARN act? My HR documentstated nothing about it. (Washington state former employee here asking )

Check your state's requirements. The statement, "If 50-499 workers lose their jobs and that number is less than 33% of the employer’s total active workforce at a single site" is different in my state. In my state it is any percentage. It just needs to be >50. Single site is definded very broadly. Multiple offices a few hours apart are a single site. Also it doesn't matter if you get severance or not.

I have been laid off many times, gotten severance every tome and WARN has applied every time.

WARN is triggered when a covered employer:

• Lays off 500 or more workers (not counting part-time workers) at a sin- gle site of employment during a 30-day period; or lays off 50-499 work- ers (not counting part-time workers), and these layoffs constitute 33% of the employer’s total active workforce (not counting part-time work- ers) at the single site of employment;

WARN is also not triggered when the following various thresholds for coverage are not met:
• If 50-499 workers lose their jobs and that number is less than 33% of the employer’s total active workforce at a single site;

If they provide severance they get out of the warn notifications in most (all) states.

good luck with that one pal. They know exactly how to get around it. They wacked me last November and when I called them on it, their lawyer got real snotty about it.
