Rich Kruger had stated that this wasn’t about less people doing same work but about removing work that we should not be doing. Well that is not the case in my department and in others around me. Management laid off the low-hanging fruit and promptly reassigned their projects. I only hope that in future rounds we learn it is whole groups that are out not just single members of the group. Suncor is extremely bureaucratic and slow moving. With major projects like Fort Hills behind us and nothing major in the foreseeable future, the organization should streamline itself to focus on ‘sweating the assets safely’.
