Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Relocate or be surplused. Oh yeah, no relocation assistance either.

I was just informed that my position is being moved to Dallas. I have 30 days to except or decline the offer to move to Dallas/Geo Zone 2 from where I was originally hired about 10 years ago in the PNW/Geo Zone 3. Oh…and did I mention that I have to cover all of my own moving expenses myself as well?! If I decline the offer they’ll let me know when it’s convenient for them to lay me off based on the needs of the business. How much diverse thinking will there be in a company with a large majority of their leadership teams and their staff all living in Dallas???

I’d take this opportunity to get out of the PNW. That place has gone to he-l in a handbasket. The countryside is probably still nice but the cities are F’d up.

I have a co-worker that is leaning not moving to a hub city. He has to consider new housing for his family and moving kids to a new school. Financing a new home with current and ever increasing interest rates is not affordable. To top that off, why risk that locked in mortgage rate when you have it good. There are high risks of layoffs in the coming months. It's not worth it.

If you own a home, do not sell the home. Move to new location. Rent a small apartment and check it out. You will see how it is and become familiar with city and whether it is a place you want to plant roots in. Then you make a decision to sell. Regardless of whether AT&T will have you as an employee five years down the line. Only you can make the call whether Atlanta ro Dallas are good for you. They are both growing cities in the south. Decent price. They have a lot going for them with many jobs. So make the decision after you see if it is a good fit for you and your family.

Looking forward to all the new open jobs coming to Dallas with all these folks not moving to Dallas. Life is good in HUB cities.

So, your choice is to completely overturn your life in the Pacific Northwest (an absolutely beautiful part of the country), sell your home, uproot your family, spend tens of thousands on moving, get to Dallas, find new housing at a higher-interest mortgage and likely be laid off in six months when Stink needs another headcount reduction to cover his incompetence and ineptitude?

Who on earth would be so stupid as to leave the Pacific Northwest to move to Texas - especially Dallas - to chase a job with T?

If you accept, you'll only have yourself to blame. Stay where you are and find a job at a decent company.

"What critical skills do you have that make you think you qualify for relocation assistance?"

Also, none of your business. I know you're the same lame dude posting boring passive-aggressive sh** like this. Give it a rest.

“ This is a business need. Don't take it personally.“

You just know it’s the same pathetic loser that makes all these posts…just ignore him and he’ll get back to yanking his crank in Mom’s basement.

Welcome to the new world. You're not the first this has happened to this year. Thousands have already been let go under the same excuse.

Not much diverse thinking to “mandate” 2 experimental jabs and upload your card, or else file your exemption

Might as well stay, they want you to quit or layoff. Moving only delays the inevitable but you might get severance then. If enough employees call their bluff, they will change course. Unfortunately, you were selected to be one of the first.
