Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Can we unionize

Does HON allow or dismiss unionization. I've not heard of grounds for making one, but the thought does cross my mind.

Considering how the union was a major factor in the IGS West Chester plant being shutdown prior to other sites, probably not a good idea

To the OP:

Honeywell cannot "dismiss" a union. But they sure can work to avoid them and locate business units where unions are less likely to form.

Honeywell is highly against unions- for the dozen reasons nearly every big company is against them.

I personally think unions are rackets that look out for the union management much more than the members. So if you want to deal with two sets of issues- whatever your beef is with Honeywell and a new set of beefs with the union, good for you. But this forum has brought up the union thing at least a thousand times- and you know the results...

Accept contract. I use voice typing, and don’t proofread my post before I post it. Guess what I’m Honeywell’s management. We are not even qualified to have our jobs.

Also, we also belong to the union. We are called group leaders, or back up group leaders. Employees the supervisors. We even sometimes discipline our own employees. Great you’re gonna have these people in your union.

You’re the id--t. I guarantee you’re the Teamsters marketer. Let me tell you how it works at Honeywell Minneapolis location.

We had all those benefits that you id--t was talking about. You’re id--ts who run the union. Never wanted to go on strike over these issues and told the union members accept the contract

They hired a union breaking company to dismantle the union.
Every time a contract comes up. They always tell us to eacceptbthe contract. It always passes. The union and our representatives are in cahoots. Do you know what they told us one year?

They will lock you out. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get you back. Then if that’s not bad. The company hired a union breaking outfit. They infiltrated our ranks. They always vote everything in. Which eliminated all of our benefits and gutted Union.

You’re a goofball marketer from the Teamsters. This last contract we had last year. Do you know what they told us? We supposedly had some big shot from the Teamsters. They told us her lousy raises were good enough for us. They also told us not to go on strike.

They also told us that the company was gonna lock us out, and that’s very unusual. They basically said in so many words. The company would wait until our strike pay and unemployment would run out. Then they would either office us same contract. They also told us they would relocate the company or permanently replace us.

I will tell you why you’re an id--t. The rights our union members fought for.. We must fight to protect. Big letters printed on the wall behind our union representative at the union hall. Then they tell us that cr-p.

Don’t vote the Teamsters in. Maybe, there are real union still around. The Teamsters is a joke. They told the union members this last contract. Vote the contract in. Even though it did not cover inflation.

This doesn’t even cover the cost of living and the benefits that we currently have are cr-ppy. Let me tell you what they told us when we were going to vote. If you’re not happy with this contract, I want you to be happy and find another job where you can be happy. Then before we voted. No one can tell you how to vote. You can vote anywhere you want. Then this woman told us go vote yes.

Then they told us., place where you can work where you will be happy. No I’m not telling you how to vote and you can vote anywhere you want. No one can tell you how to vote. You can vote anyway you want. Do you know how they ended it before the vote took place. Vote yes.

These id--ts didn’t want us to go on strike. When the company stated we would never be able to negotiate for healthcare again. Guess what this past too. This happened before I even worked for Honeywell. I don’t hate unions. You better not unionizing get the Teamsters. Please vote in a real one.

If you want to HELP preserve your USA job, you should. Let's look at the history shall we? Torrance jobs get shipped to Mexicali Mexico. This complex of buildings is just 7 miles south of the US border. Hummmmm I wonder why? In Mexicali, there are jobs that used to be performed in Tucson and Phoenix. Let's skip over to Puerto Rico shall we? There are jobs from Deer Valley as well as Tucson as well as Phoenix. Both PR and Mexicali are capital investments (buildings and facilities). What that tells me is less USA jobs and more jobs elsewhere. Remember when Ross Perot asked about that su-king sound? That is the sound of HON sending your jobs to a DM (developing market). Boeing doesn't have this problem because their professional unions preclude in contracts.

@1emz+1nM5VmvX, spoken like a true honeyhe11 hr m0r0n and/or manager! So, "things" are GREAT now? Moral GREAT NOW? Not moving anything out of country NOW? Equivalent pay NOW (not). Hey Einstein, what if employees unionize in a RIGHT TO WORK STATE?, more protection, more benefits, and everyone does not need to join, to GET those protections, give me a break you idi0t. honeyhe11 has been at the bottom end of pay for 30 years +, no pension, no medical with retirement/pension, lowest in industry 401K, no profit sharing, a catastrophic medical coverage, mandatory work yield percentage, mandatory 9 blocks and PIP firings, mandatory jab requirements...want me to go on? Yea, continue to do the company's dirty work, and talk b$ about unions, and how MARVELOUS everything is right now! Oh, maybe you can promote that honeyhe11 has "unlimited vacation", m0r0n.

I guarantee if you try to unionize. Honeywell will move the plant to a right to work state. Thus, eliminating the revenue you crooked people get for representing us.

You wouldn't have to pay union dues. In a state that is a right to work state. Yet! You would still get the belong to the union.

@1gvo+1nM5VmvX ; EXACTLY. Lot's of mental Master-B on "Do unions work", your comment is spot on, and for those with a brain, the correct logic to apply is... IF UNIONS DID NOT WORK, honeyHELL would not try, every time, to CRUSH them , legally, illegally, UN-ethically .."what ever it takes". Don't believe the company fan boi's, the HR trolls, and the H-he-l managers ...on this site, that IMMEDIATELY poopoo the idea of Unionization, with the ole..."Unions are not perfect" argument ! The question is NOT are they perfect, the question is...IS UNIONIZATION BETTER THAT THE CURRENT STATE, and that is an obvious YES!

If unions did not work then corporations would not have such a hyper aggressive knee-jerk reaction to the rumor of one being started

You think you're going to get protection with a union. You think you're going to get better pay. You think they're going to put grievances in for you.

Minnesota Minneapolis is unionized. The people in Plymouth Minnesota get treated better than we do. I have been hearing they get paid $34 an hour.

We get paid 27.86 an hour. The mirror department in my building. Which is not Union gets about $34 an hour.

Don't quote me on the Plymouth and mirror department exact hourly wage. I know it's higher than what we're getting.

The characters that run our union. Usually they get the summer off with no union meetings.

If you get fired, the current Union representation so far hasn't got one person to come back yet. No you don't want a union. The ones at the Union Hall get double pay and don't do jack cr-p.

I find it fun to leave union pamphlets in Honeywell parking lots. There is a predictable anti-union red team that launches into action with trainings and anti union propaganda.
The truth is that unions are just the other side of the same money grubbing coin.
We would be better off hiring private investigators and code compliance auditors to ensure compliance to simple health and safety laws.

Yes, anything that might get in the way of Honeywell bending their employees over at every whim of the leadership is HIGHLY frowned upon. Then again, if we try to unionize they'll just offshore everything sooner anyway.
