Perhaps call and ask any given LEADER what a PBM or specialty pharmacy is and if they cannot answer axe them instead of letting them focus on their teams.
You’d be surprised the leaders in OptumRx pharmacy division cannot answer this. I know from experience.
I do not work in RX and I know that those terms mean. That is scary that someone in a position of leadership doesn't know the basics of the area they work in.
Suggestion to OptumRX vs Optum General page - this is exactly why this org has no cohesive synergy. OptumRX members are considered to be under the same umbrella of Optum. Actually, they raised awareness for other contributors on this forum.
I would be not defensive just because I hold the title of "manager/management".
Break down the silos may help to step forward...
Many Optum positions have nothing to do with Rx, so knowing what a PBM is doesn’t accurately reflect a manager’s competency. I only know what it is from college. My role GL 28 role has nothing to do with pharmacy. (I’m an individual contributor, not defending management) maybe this site needs to have an OptumRx page and a general Optum Page.
Those of us not in Rx often see these posts and freak out, but it’s Rx related not the rest of Optum.
Sad to say but this post and comments here are highly accurate and true from my time working in the Rx area of 5+ years.
Most of the managers at OPTUM know nothing about their department.
Look at the background of them: loss prevention, sales and marketing, etc. What do you expect?
