RIF coming end of August due to lost contracts and downturn in economy

What downturn in the economy?
I love how leadership plays like they are so transparent about upcoming furloughs and RIFs. “Oh, I had no idea that was coming.” Experience taught me to read leadership. Step 1 hire a bunch of naive recent college grads for cheap. Step 2 cut funding for travel. Step 3 Keep reqs open for more positions, but only until Step 6. Step 4 Require a certain percentage of the teams to have lower elbow reviews, thus giving them warning to look for work elsewhere without telling them directly. Focus on older, more experienced employees who make more than the college grads. Step 5 start rounds of unpaid furloughs and small rounds of layoffs to remain under the WARN notice radar. Don’t inform employees they are eligible for unemployment for furloughs. Step 6 decimate various groups. Wash, rinse, repeat. I’m trying like most here to get out of Honeyhell. My resume only has this though, and no one seems to want a Honeyhell burnout.
I see loads of comments here about directors this and directors that. I wouldn’t put stock into anything any director says because they don’t know shlt, aren’t clued in and have no power. Most VPs don’t.
Our director can look you straight in the eye and tell you an outright lie, he has it down to an art form. He is so good I wonder if he believes his own lies. I was warned about it but found it difficult to judge as he is British and they can be very convincing. He keeps telling me about his grand vision but I think our group will be gone by next year. Do not trust any leadership here, I have learnt the hard way.
Open reqs really doesn't mean much. Most groups I know of are under a hiring freeze. There will always be a few critical needs filled.
There are furloughs (Not for all SBGs) then the cost containment email and those that have been around for a minute know what's next.
There will layoffs. Many will be small numbers in the stealth mode so no big announcements.
Workload doesn't usually matter a lot.
Do you really trust your director. I'm not trying to be mean.
Where I work. They never tell us if they ever lost a contract. They never tell us when they get a contract.
When projects don't get done they all lie for each other. Only time will tell.
When it comes to your future. You are the only one that will look out for yourself. If you want to trust your director, that's your choice.
Honeywell isn't exactly known for good business practices.
One can only hope they get rid of some of the less than stellar overpaid incompetent new hires or a receive a RIF. Win-win
Not sure where this info came because that is not what was stated in all hands meeting just last Thursday. The director said just the opposite - they have open reqs to hire more staff.
Any word on failing former Com Dev?
Urbana aka. Grimes Aerospace has been suffering from low margins ever since the acquisition and its should come in as no surprise for those in the know that the inevitable was only too soon.
How can a site be managing so many part numbers and manufacturing internally without the bean counters not taking notice.
