A coworker got fired. We were told via email then a short meeting, and nothing was disclosed. He was pretty good at his job and we liked him. It’s very surprising that he was fired. Anyone knows what could be the reasons of someone being fired at USAA?

Phone games and attendance are two big ones in my department.
My former cubby, she was fired for her 2 USAA credit cards charging off. Reason was, “how can she assist members when she can’t help herself by having 2 charged off credit cards.”
There was an officer fired for having financial problems, not for living in the office. But, yes, he was living in his office at work.
Fired for living in home office? Make up your mind! Either you want me in the office more or not! What a stupid company!
One guy got fired because he was living in the Home Office building. I’m not joking.
Isn't it illegal to announce that someone was fired? I thought that when they call to verify employment, all that is shared is the dates of your employment? If that is the case sending out an email and discussing it during a meeting seems wrong. They should just say that a person has left. Period.
Nothing would ever be disclosed. It's private and confidential information. There are TONS of reasons to get fired and you never know the whole story. You have NO idea who that person really is, what they are capable of or what occurred.
Maybe he looked at something that should never be looked at while at work? He accidentally used his corp credit card at the dollar store? He declared Chapter 11? He insubordinated someone he shouldn't have? He was caught sleeping at work?
It could be many reasons why a person got fired, even stupid ones that make no sense what so ever! In my 15 years with USAA, here 3 of the d-mbest!! This guy was fired due to HYGIENE, I shhh you not, they said it made others uncomfortable!! Another guy was fired for leaving the to go containers in his desk and food was left inside, it smelled horribly. This girl was fired for dressing “provocatively” and it made others self conscious.
So, many reasons why they can fire a person.
Couldn't you acknowledge a PIP and write a comment disagreeing with it? How would that set you back any worse than refusing to acknowledge it? (Other than the obvious sh-t storm of reprisal that goes without saying)
Right now, they are actively searching for "reasons" to fire a person. My opinion is that the worker signed a PIP, was denied a fair chance, and was fired.
Do not sign a PIP! Consult an attorney.
Right to work state, so could have been a myriad of reasons.
Reasons for firing are never really discussed as that info should be confidential. Could honestly be a ton of different reasons.
Why does it matter? Stop being nosy. 1000 different reasons. Seen people get fired for stupid sh1t over the past 10 years.
