turns out you can get a pay raise or a promotion still if you threaten to quit and have a competing offer

Hazzah!
It is up to your management to decide to match offers based on your performance and value. Easier if you are an engineer 1.
You will get vested learning hours if you have an offer from another company.
Hark, thee shall receive a counter offer from Seagate's esteemed executives only if thou art in their inner circle and comradely with them. Verily, my vice president hath counseled me to seek a rival offer, and upon its presentation, a rise in remuneration shall come forth. Should thou fail in this endeavor, RSUs shall be the measure of thy reward. All is feasible, an' thou but make the inquiry.
You sure of "pay rise"? Are you still in the dreamland?
yup, take a counter and the will they leave again lingers in managers mind
Probably a fool would take a counter offer and stay back
If you have a such an offer and are under 50 don’t even waste time getting a Seagate response. They are not being honest about the company being in danger of bankruptcy
