Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

How effective are internal programs to find a job within Oracle (e.g. "Advantage YOU")?

After recent road map changes I can see the writing on the wall for myself (software developer IC5 in SaaS, North America). Aside of searching for a job outside, there are supposed to be ways to make moves within Oracle, but they require some time investment. Are they effective? Did anybody successfully went through programs like "Advantage YOU"? If yes, could you please share your experience and time frames involved?

From my experience, I know several talented people were laid-off during internal transfer process. Its upto your manager as he can sc--w the entire process.
Between, Internal transfer is useless as you end up with same pay/minimal pay rise and no promotion. Instead why not try an external company with pay rise and promotions ?

Name calling and especially using the word loser is kind of pathetic, especially when you can’t spell it. It’s also identifying which posts belong to you, and the 4 or 5 I’ve seen suggest that you have nothing worthwhile to say.

The question is will an internal move really be worth it? Seriously, think about it. Are you a few years from retirement? Are you so happy at Oracle that you cannot imagine working anyplace else? If you answer no to either of these questions, why not look externally and see what the rest of the world looks like? It doesn't cost much to look, usually nothing, Maybe a couple of hundred bucks to get your resume professionally written, but for an IC5, isn't it worth the investment? If you are going to move, move. If a great position, and don't look back. You will be forgotten 5 minutes after you are gone. Think about that when you consider any change.

The point is they want to reduce headcount. Your movement to another position does not achieve that goal. Good luck with finding work OUTSIDE of Oracle.

You can easily move to different teams within Oracle. Just find a job opening, apply and contact internal hiring manager / recruiter.

Through which system? I tried to follow through the process outlined on the home page. It looks like it requires you to go through Advantage YOU initiative, which forces you to complete multiple learning paths as a prerequisite (with at least multiple hours or days to complete them from the first glance). Is it really required and worth it?
