Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

To leave or stay during economic uncertainty

I found it interesting that as I've been pinged by recruiters, I almost feel MORE safe leaving Oracle during economic uncertain times, rather than staying.

The severance package here su-ks compared to other tech companies. Layoffs happen without any WARN notices being posted or heads up being given. Layoffs are also not based on performance, but often based on how much you make from what I've seen.

So it seems that it's a no-brainer... If you can find a company that pays better (shouldn't be very hard), and a company that has even a marginally better severance package (also shouldn't be very hard), you/I should take an offer. It seems like it's safer to be a new hire at another company than a tenured and high performer at Oracle.

Sad.

NOW you’re getting it!!! Oracle is the most miserable place I’ve ever worked. Mostly because of the uncertainty about everything and opaque management. Add in lack of career growth, zero raises, etc.

Just leave while yes there is uncertainty but assuming you havent been half assing your job and understand the technology you work with you will be fine. Like OP said "find a company that pays more" just do it.

At least you will know that you were wanted at the new org, rather than awaiting your riff on the O death row.
