"will not happening any time soon". Its sooner than you think. When it happens, it will be too late. I'm not saying jump ship, but prepare the resume and start looking around. Ask your friends if their companies are hiring. Don't wait. Job openings are decreasing. This could all hit at the worst time.
Chances are the Exxon acquisition will not happening any time soon.
