Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

what happens if people do not relocate to a hub?

Will the company be hiring "local talent" for example in dallas and atlanta since the company claimed that these jobs are necessary to be performed in these specific cities?

This is so delightfully Orwellian. No offshoring because the jobs moving to Bangalaore will be filled by T employees.

May as well finally put up that giant "Work Will Make You Free" banner above each and every hub office entrance.

'Backfills will likely come from India and/or Israel. Per Jeremy Legg, we shouldn't think of these backfills as offshoring because they will be "AT&T Employees," and not contractors. So, "exactly who is pulling who's legg?" ' OMG. Legg is such a tool that he would say something so inane. The headquarters of AT&T is DALLAS, TEXAS, USA. If you are backfilling jobs that were in the USA to employees in another country that's taking your USA-based jobs OFF shore (of the USA). GOD, WHAT A MO--NIC STATEMENT LEGG!!! And are those backfilled jobs that 'could only be done in a hub location'?! GOD, this company is run by a bunch of id--ts who think all subordinates are as d-mb as them. No wonder this company is under water.

Legg said they are increasing hires in India and not to think of this as outsourcing because these will be AT&T employees. Of course he didn't use the work offshoring because that's exactly what he's doing.

Soon they'll ask you to work their time hours in the name of collaboration.

It obviously varies by group but from what I’ve heard if you aren’t lucky enough to get backfills the people left when the dust settles will have to figure it out.

No management job is "necessary to be performed in these specific cities." 95% of management jobs can be done anywhere in the world with internet access. It's just a ploy to reduce numbers. IE a layoff disguised as an RTO/relocation effort.

Sounds like good business model from a shareholder perspective.
The boss, you now.

They’ll offshore or simply dump the work on the people left until they drop dead or quit. Then they’ll dump that on the rest. It’s the way of the world now.

They will be filled in Bangalore where top salaries are under $10K per year. They will be badged employees in an India hub.

I also confirm the announcement that Legg plans to non-offshore-offshore with new employees in India.

Yes, they will attempt to do so. My org is moving to Dallas only (no hub cities). I have been told that they will create backfill positions, but even the initial amount of backfills will be fewer than the number of people who left. My guess is any open positions by the end of the year will further be cut.
