Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Mayday, Mayday. Abandon ship.

Perhaps not since the captain of the titanic has 1 man single handedly caused such a massive disaster. Randy is his name. Losing $100 billion, now added to T huge debt load, and likely taking down the huge USS ATT is his claim to horrible fame. He is an id--t, truly, really, a financial re--rd. A bozo. A loser. A dweeb. A thumb su-king diaper dumper. Now on walmart board, proving walmart is really stupid.

AT&T Falls to 29-Year Low Amid Concerns of Cleanup Costs

(Bloomberg) -- AT&T Inc. shares hit an almost three-decade low Friday amid growing concerns of the potentially high costs the phone giant faces if it must clean up contamination due to lead-clad wiring throughout parts of its nationwide network.

The issue was exposed earlier this week in a Wall Street Journal story that pointed to leaching lead cables that were part of early landline networks built by phone companies in the first half of the 20th century. Those networks are now owned by several national carriers including AT&T, Verizon Communications Inc. and Lumen Technologies Inc.

AT&T shares fell 4.1% to $14.50 at the close in New York, their lowest price since February 1994. Verizon declined 1.8% and Lumen dropped 10%.

Industry analysts have been trying to calculate the potential costs and risks that may await the carriers.

With a service area that covers about 40% of US homes plus an extensive long distance network, “AT&T will have the largest exposure,” JPMorgan analyst Phil Cusick wrote in a note Friday. Citing the uncertainty around the outcome, Cusick cut his AT&T target price to $17 from $22.

The lead concerns add to an already challenging year for the largest US phone company. In April, AT&T reported $1 billion in free cash flow, missing analysts’ $3 billion target and setting off alarms for the second year in a row about dividend payments. Last month, the company warned that wireless subscriber growth was less than anticipated. The company also clumsily obscured a massive restructuring and job reduction effort behind a new return-to-work policy.

AT&T declined to comment. The company has referred questions about the lead situation to USTelecom, an industry group, which has created a website featuring several statements including a claim disputing the charge that phone cables are a leading cause of lead exposure. The group, which represents most US phone companies, says it’s “ready to engage constructively on the issue."

The mission of every AT&T CEO since the 1984 breakup has been to keep the dividend afloat and kick the debt to the next CEO. The iceberg has been incoming for decades, and no CEO, present or future can steer away from it. Bankruptcy is the best possible outcome for T, because at least it can shed some of that debt.

Can’t stand when people call it “return to work.” It’s “return to office.” The last thing I was able to do this week with zero parking, no available workstations, and 10 people around me all on different calls was work.

LOL keep falling, I never had a single penny invested in T when they bought the company I worked for. That was one of the first things I did. Pure comedy to watch the struggles. Myself and other colleagues could never contain the amusement when we would be in a town hall and someone with 25+ years was recognized. What loser stays with such a toxic company for that long. Maybe someone in a rural area I guess. Now to see so many cry babies over the layoff in its Halloween costume of RTO. Probably another reason we found so many of you complete id--ts. There were a few gems but not nearly the amount you would expect in a company T size back in 2017. If you don't like the garbage your 25+ year lover is giving you MOVE ON.

Kind of wasn't expecting that reference. Appreciated.

Randall’s the biggest blame he was head at ATT before southwestern bell bought them and run them (ATT) in the ground then. So now he’s responsible for running ATT in the ground twice! And we rewarded him with 274,000 per month (WOW)

I'd say it's the other way around. Stanley was Head of Strategy so those were his d-mb ideas and Randall was the one that went along with it. I blame them equally.
