You know what ? Just keep learning to make sure you are marketable and can find another job. Microsoft just laid off 200+ staff earlier in the week. No prior notice. So anyone can be laid off any time and any where.
This is the only point worth considering. Being employable is the only way to counter layoffs. As simple as that.
Safe? You are only safe when you are no longer in any danger. That is only true when you are in Elysian.

At the end of the day Oracle reports to Wall Street investors, pension funds etc… and couldn’t care less about its employees; a dollar saved is a dollar made for the investors and the owner; anybody can be replaced, like lightbulbs
Eventually local high paying engineering Jobs in North America will be mostly offshored in low cost areas like India: it’s just business in capitalism and part of the great replacement. The transition is being done by bringing over temporary work visa employees such H1Bs to help setup the offshoring process
